The nutrition programs that we offer are of two types:
Supplemental food assistance and school lunch programs. In the school
lunch program projects, we provide meals for children who would otherwise
not have anything to eat other than what their parents would send them
to school with, if anything.

Children,
like these on the left, receive a daily lunch of rice at school
sites. Education in Vietnam is not free. The
majority of the people in this area of the country are unemployed or under employed.
With an annual income per person of approximately $360, the cost
of school
alone is a major expense. |
|
| In addition to the school lunches, we provide supplemental rice
programs at a number of sites throughout the area. On the right
you will see our employee (in the white hat) distributing 40 pound
bags of rice to eligible families. The rice costs about 10 cents
per pound. The bag of rice will supplement a family of four for
a month and costs approximately $4.00US. |
